Happy Pills Might Help

Merry Meet,

How are you doing…spring is here…it has been quite crazy as of late…sorry I have not been around much…let me fill you in

Massage has been a happy place…many of the clients have been coming in to see me…we have been talking about a plans and what to do while I am on the paddle…we laugh about how busy I will be when I return…I think I have the best group of patients:)
School is going well…I am taking Nutrition and Pathology…it is a very interesting class…it also reinforces and add structure to what we have already learned…it is difficult to keep up because of what is going on, but so far so good

American Boudica Publishing has been focused on the Sunshine Paddle…Chris has been working on artwork…he and his granddaughters’ Alex and Jade are working on a Children’s book called ‘Animals of the Paddle’…so far it looks good

Ostara will be a big holiday (3/20/12) for me this year…the first lambs were born this week…I will be requesting safe passage…all who wish to join me at the bon fire, just call…I will be making the feast first

The SunshinePaddle will be happening in 65 days…I am making appearances, have joined a play (The Vagina Monologues- for the shelter), trip planning, sending letters, practice, shopping, etc…this does not even speak on testing equipment…it is very important to me…

Spring is popping out everywhere…I have been trying to clean up…this year I have had so little time, I am shoveling sand against the tide…flowers have started popping up everywhere…goes to figure Dad is NC and missing it…lol

Positive and Happy

Merry Meet,

I am glad to see you…how have you been…it is nice to put your feet up and unwind…I see you are getting ready for fall…thank you for picking up yellow and brown candles for me...

Massage is going well…the movement in my hands has seemed to politely request muscles to give up their tension and knots…my clients have been very supportive and are excited about the paddle

School…well this is the last week of ‘Introduction to Chiropractic’…I look forward to starting a new class on Sunday;)

American Boudica Publishing is still on hiatus…thankfully this hiatus is happening while England switches from analog to digital…this has made phone calls almost impossible…we are excited to be going back in the next few months…we will keep you posted

The paddle is going well…my shape has been changing and so have my muscles…much of the weight is gone…none of this is easy…I am neither stupid or naive…I can and will accomplish the 1350 mile trip at the pace I have set…I have seen the shark videos (and the dolphin rape ones too)…I have heard all the nay sayers (paddle forest paddle/ do you have life insurance/ your too old/etc)…now they can all hear me…either help me or get the fudge out of the way…if you really need to talk smack, do so behind my back…I no longer have time for negative bull crapp…the money I raise will go to something I believe in deeply…I am helping to educate thousands of children…I would rather take my chances doing something I believe in than sitting on the sidelines whining about the way things are…get it…was at the Dunedin causeway this morning…my first solo venture…was a lot of chop on the water…I got a real work out…I feel like I could break coconuts off my chest…lol…my camera went down, so I had to pick up a disposable…the manager of my local Walgreens gave me a break and I got a waterproof camera gadget for only $4- VERY COOL…I did not finish the roll yet…I am not sure how the pictures came out, since I took the pictures from the boat and the waves kept me bouncing…lol…Chris and I have been working on my Bio…

I met with Tami Longaberger earlier this week…what a lovely woman…I have high hopes she will help sponsor us…she also came up with the idea of a Kayak Basket with the Sunshine Paddle emblem burned into the lid with so much money from each basket sold going into a national fund for abuse victims…how VERY AWESOME is that…I have also been working on putting together North Carolina…with the hurricane some areas are still not up…as always looking for volunteers along the route…
call me (813)907-6279 or e-mail me…I do not do the text thing;)

Mabon falls on the 23rd this year…I found some cute candles from a few years ago…I will be making a full chicken dinner for feast that night...you are more than welcome;)

On the 26th I will be turning 46…I am actually feeling very cool about this…I have walked through hell and I made it…life is good…I am feeling happy about where it is going…yes it is hard, but anything worth having is…

Relaxation Herb Tea

1/2 cup of fresh mint leaves (not the stems, they're bitter), rinsed, lightly packed (about 20 leaves)

1/2 cup of fresh lemon verbena leaves, rinsed, lightly packed (about 10-15 leaves)

4 Cups water

Juice of 1 lemon

Bring water to a boil, add leaves and juice…let stand 5-10 minutes…strain and enjoy (hot or over ice)

May you be blessed,

D

Into The Mystic

It has been a week of excitement and fun…glad you came to see me…you look great…yes, other than a worthless government, life is doing good at the moment…let me fill you in-

Massage has been shut down this week…I have worked on a few friends, but really was just too busy…I cleaned the room from top to bottom…I expect to be busy this summer and wanted to make it ready

This was my final week in the Antioxidant class…I got an A…I took in a lot of information and was able to process it with what I had already learned…if I have not said it yet…THE BODY IS AN AMAZING PLACE

It is now day 16 without tobacco…I can not believe I have made it this far…I am thankful for the help of the Chantix…honestly, it has made it much easier than any other time I have tried to quit…the pool and the guitar have both been quite useful…one is an escape and the other keeps my hands busy…I have also put into practice a lot of deep breathing

While on Chantix, I have had a hard time focusing…so Boudica has been on a short hiatus…Chris and Rose have been quite supportive…they are about to get a new grandchild and we are quite excited…we have been talking about story ideas…Chris has released some of his paintings for purchase…I am so proud of him…

Walter has been helping me get the house and yard ready for Beltane…the weeding, composting, rebuilding the long hall and reflooring the kitchen and outroom…we will also be painting the outside of the house this summer too…I plan on doing a mosaic solar system…with Pluto being the last planet…I understand the controversy…too bad haters…it will always be part of my solar system…we have started ripping everything up…I have this really cool idea of how I am going to do the walls and ceiling…soon enough a new president will be in office and jobs will be created and I won’t have the time…might as well get it done now…

In the garden this winter I had no dead loss…I will be up potting my young trees…I planted a Bird of Paradise on Shinara…I found a beautiful bush for the front that has these beautiful flowers that are deep purple one day, violet the next, lilac the third and white the fourth…I think I will plant it up front by the door…Cosmo’s Rose is just a ball of Pink…Mellissa and her husband have helping me with it all since Cooper is in MA at the moment…Mom has been spotted with scissors giving the porch plants a hair cut…no joke…the porch plants are red and hairy…lol…get you mind out of the gutter…we have planted a bunch of flowers today…the weather has been great

The dogs are doing well…Chole grows constantly and he is still such a little baby…working with him and Quintus daily at times drives me nuts…when training any dog…being consistent and stubborn is the key…I have never found a need to beat a dog…I treat my dogs like my children…think about it, our kids never did everything we wanted, when we wanted…so your dog will not either…when they are shown what is acceptable, they will often choose that…trouble often happens when they are left unattended and/or neglected…with 4 dogs it takes 4 people (me, Walt, Coop and Dale) to have them as in the house dogs…cleaning is a daily event…this not only holds down any smell, but also keeps them healthy

In antioxidant class I learned about Lipoic Acid…it repairs cells, prevents disease, boosts the immune system and boosts all other antioxidants…I started taking 100mg every morning 2 weeks ago and have noticed a big difference…if I was still using tobacco, I would also take 100mg at night too…I am not anyone’s doctor and can only tell you what I do for me

Have you made a medication list??? This is a good thing to keep and keep updated…this way if something happened…the medical professionals would know what to or not to use…one for the kids is a great thing…doctors, school, sports, etc…just burn a copy when requested

Sun Burn

-Drink plenty of water and juice

- Aloe first 48 hours and then lotion (I use Banana Boat Aloe Gel)

-Icepacks can help take the heat out

-See doctor for blisters

Deep breathing is something we always mean to do, but never really make the time…while I have been going through this quitting thing…I have been going to the pool…I have used the first part of my time and devoted it to deep breathing…it does bring on a certain peace and a sense of humor…sounds easy…was not at first…my mind likes to wander…just refocus and start again…by giving the breathing, you give it importance and your perspective starts to change

My guitar work is coming along slowly…my fingers are slowly getting out of their own way;)…I am starting to do my scales well…I do not know that I will ever master it, but it is a great excuse to keep my fingers busy…lol…Dansir and I made a bond…she is to learn one new song and I will learn a song and we will both play for each other

In the Circle of Boudica we are getting ready for babies to start dropping…Beltane is May 1…I will be having a good bon fire…candles are orange, yellow and red…offering table should have seeds, fresh peas, matches…its all about burning down the old to start the new…dancing, music, eating and sex…what a great holiday;)

Well, as you can see…My ass has been in hyperdrive…how are you doing??? I have not seen that much of you…what is going on in your life…fill me in…

Blessed Be,

D

New Mantra…Being Old is Cool

If you don't like something change it; if you can't change it, change the way you think about it.

When we are no longer able to change a situation, we are challenged to change ourselves.

Merry Meet,

Have you come to meditate with me? I know you don’t have time right now, but you should make some. Meditation is a great way to think and put ideas together.

Massage is great. The clients have been in, honestly I think just to make sure I came back from North Carolina (lol). I am a lucky woman to have so many caring people around me.

Book 2 has me ready to rip out my hair…The cover is having giant problems…in the last 48 hours I have learned EVERY program adobe has…even had adobe support on the phone for 4 hours yesterday (India/Philippines...very nice people)…way more than I ever wanted to know…I may just have to build a new cover…Chris and I will decide this today…it has held all publishing for us on the back burner until this is fixed and delivered

In school I did a board post from the New York Times (Genes as Mirrors of Life Experiences,
By BENEDICT CAREY, Published: November 8, 2010) it was very worth the read. It is said that some of the issues that happen to the mother’s stress levels effect the child’s genes enough on the surface that it can create a psychological pathology for the child. This is why pregnant women should be treated like fine china and be kept as stress free as possible.

I fear I may have brought the cold weather with me upon my return. It has been 58f at night and 78f during the day. I have had to pull out my winter clothes. After being in Florida so long my blood is as thin as water. I have been able to let my hair down (literally) more…this is funny as it stays in a bun so much that most people do not realize how long it is…the look of shock is priceless.

In the Circle of Boudica…we have many souls of different religions from many different counties…they enjoy the fellowship of spirit…one of my friends saw me counsel a Christian member and then a Rastafarian member…the friend asked if it bothered me that they are not Pagan and had no plans to convert…No it does not bother me…the point is to spend time with people on a spiritual plane…to share wisdom…what sex or what color or who you call god or where you come from…these things simply do not matter to me…all that matters is the love that flows through each meeting…to have the support given…wisdom shared…I truly feel blessed

The pimp mobile is awesome. I am going to try a few of the local doctors to see if I can get some part time work. I am excited. The yard has been on hold this week as I am trying to put together a new resume. Dad will be home this weekend…YEA!!!! I always seem more productive when he is home.

I got 3 new games for the Wii. I looked at the cheap games on Amazon and found some cool stuff. Puzzle Challenge is a 1 person game and a great way to build time and vocabulary. Smarty Pants is a trivia game, Walter and I have had fun with this…the questions are a challenge. Game Party 3 is a great deal of fun…I kicked Walter’s hind end at pool, but he killed me at shuffle board. The best part is all 3 with shipping cost me under $40.

Anti-Depressive and Headache Reliever

Pour 2 cups boiling water over 3 teaspoons dried primrose flow¬ers and leaves.

Let it stand, covered, about 15 minutes.

Strain and sweeten. Drink warm or hot (reheat as needed.)

The animals are well…though Chewy did have a hissy fit about me being gone so long…it was quite cute. Marley (sugar glider) also got into a slight snit and would not let me play with her for a few days. All is back to normal now…thank the goddess…I do so dislike it when they get upset with me.

My hair is more grey, my figure is slightly fluffy, I am far from 20…I have never been so beautiful…no one stopped to change my tire, but I had the wisdom to do it myself…my youngest children just turned 21 and I have been young enough to enjoy life with them and will be able to see where life takes all of them before I pass…earlier this week I was feeling OLD…and guess what…I am…isn’t it cool ;)

May the sun warm your back and light your path…

Blessed be,

D

Meltdown on the little red planet...

Merry Meet,

How are you? I am doing much better now…on my trip back from the little red planet…I managed to calm down. This has really been a hard month. Put your feet up, get comfortable and let’s talk…

Massage has gone well. I love my job. Breaking the body down is fun. My clients get into some of the most interesting conversations with me…the conversations go every where (history, money, medicine, politics, art, death, life, computers, etc)…after the massage is over, I really feel much better about life. I have the best clients and they make me a great therapist.

School…well, I had a major meltdown this week…I had to bust my butt the week before to catch up and was quite proud of getting the work done…I have learned quite a few new tricks in Microsoft office…then we started learning about Excel…by Tuesday Walt was asking if I wanted a wig since I had ripped out my hair…lol…on top of this we had a ‘Team Project’…it was well announced, but I had somehow missed it…I felt quite stupid…I was also upset that no one had contacted me from my team until the last minute…the teacher in this class has been great… if I have not said it today, I love my school…the other students who saw my meltdown called or e-mailed and tutored me…once I calmed down it all became clear and I was able to handle it.

England has been having some sporadic weather keeping Chris and Rose in the house…Chris and Rose have the Chapter 2 video all planned are just waiting for a break in the weather to roll film…I have been updating the computer with all of my new programs for publishing…Don is off on his other job at the moment….we all hope to be on point again next week

This month had me at wits end…first, I got sick…lightening blew up many appliances on the property…the mouse wars, the mice lost…though my house stunk…you would think that would be enough…last night a breaker popped…no storm, only my computer and a few lights on…hmmm…why would the breaker pop…my air condition unit went down…this is Florida and we still have 95f heat…I was so burnt out from drama all I could do is laugh…poor Walt thought I had really lost it…all I could picture was having to buy a new unit and where was the money going to come from…I called Dolphin Air, they are from Wesley Chapel…they are quick, clean and do not try to rip you off…the mice had chewed through a wire…the guys had it fixed in about 20 minutes…Walt may have won the war, but the mice got the last laugh

I love my age…I am soon to turn 45…I think it is so cool…a number of people (myself included) have worked quite hard for me to get here…it was not easy for any of us…I have always been blessed with wonderful friends and family…up until the last 2 left home, I was always the hard ass…I had to be…now, I get to be me…relax…enjoy life…I have always worked for the family…Now, I feel blessed because I am young enough to do the things I have always wanted…best of all…I can still rock the bikini and I am older enough not to care about the stretch marks…lol…they are my battle scars…I won…I am still here

My twins will turn 21 tomorrow…that is rocking my world a little…it seems like they were just little girls yesterday…today, they are beautiful, educated, loving young women…neither one is pregnant…I must have done something right…lol…they were the last 2 at home of the 38 I raised…OMG, it’s the end of an era of children…I was 17 when they started…28 years of dedication…I wish for my girls a wonderful day…I hope the night is exciting…Tristan is out of State and Dansir is in Orlando…So I will not get to see them…I am making a big chicken dinner with cake and ice cream to celebrate for them…I will make them a video in hopes to make them both feel at home…I miss them

The garden is changing for fall…Cooper’s roses have started to bloom in a vibrant red…Cosmo’s Rose has turned a pale pink…the bird house crumbled when lightening hit it…I will keep my eyes open for another one…the day before my birthday I will be weeding and feeding…I will share pics

The animals are well…the sugar gliders have been happy to play with me…the dogs have been going through dry skin…I crush banana leafs and apply to affected areas…when I was up north I used Vaseline…I also use mayonnaise…when in the bath, after we shampoo, I used conditioner on them…the cat is acting like wonder slut…I try to brush him once a day while he is shedding…Walter’s work uniforms are Pepsi blue and we have a shedding white cat…instead of getting upset…I lay out the clothes and wrap them in a towel and Walt can only put them on when he is ready to walk out the door…lol…yes, as a matter of fact our animals do own us….

In the Circle of Boudica we have been busy…the preparations for my induction ceremony are almost complete…the pieces of wood have been coming in from all over the world…I am so excited…this is sure to be a magical evening…since the Feast of Ingiving is on the same night…there is much cooking to be done…

Cold & Flu Tea

This is the time of the year that many of us are being bothered with a cold or the flu.

Use equal parts (use a tea ball)-

Peppermint

Elder flowers

Yarrow

This tea increases perspiration so you sweat out the fever. I drink 1/2 of a cup every 1/2 hour until I start to sweat. Then I drink 1/2 cup every one to two hours. I usually don't stay sick too long using this tea.

As usual, sleep is something for the dead…I am thankful for the ability to keep up…I feel richer than Martha and Oprah combined…they only have money…there is no dollar amount worth what I have…I have true friends and a very loving family…they have seen me through thick and thin and I them…I work for and with a great group of people…privileged am I to be getting a great education…I feel beyond blessed that the fellowship in the Circle is growing and strong…My wish for you all is to be so blessed…please remember laughter is the best answer to the hardest situation

Blessed Be,

D

Holding on by my fingernails...

I have really been getting into it this week...I think being a mom, student, wife, etc can really wear on you...this has been a week from hell...this reminds me of when the played 'Midnight Rider' by the Almond Brothers for David Crosby when he escaped rehab...the DJ came on and said 'smoke em if you got em'...

Massage has been a bit much to deal with. I only had 2 clients this week that were able to get to me due to road closures, I am already missing my fisherman and tourists due to BP. I filed a claim with BP for my business...they supposedly lost it twice and asked if I would file it a third time...I told them to fuck off...I came this far on my own (not to mention paying their bills as well as my own). I will never shop or get gas at a BP again. The aqua therapy is going well and I will soon be making a video on it...that has me very happy. I have also started working out plans on the new health care center that I plan on opening...it will take me about 2 years, but it will all be worth it. The massage room is cleaned and updated with new vibrant energy.

I passed 'Botany and Herbology' with an A...YEA!!!! Now, I have started a class called 'The Herbal Medicine Chest'. This will be another tough one. I looked at the class syllabus and noted 2 term papers due per week...many hours typing ahead. I have a good feeling though...it is amazingly interesting.

Books are going well. Getting everything set on so many stages is killing me...I miss my web workers. I keep plugging away at it though. Chris is helping me set up the new website this week...this will hold all of the new Boudica updates and products. At times, I wonder if I will ever get sleep....its overrated anyway.

Well on the government liaison front it is slow at the moment. I keep banging on doors, knowing eventually I will wear someone down and get what we are seeking. I often find at times I will force a smile when I just want to scream. Yes, I am still fighting with the bonding issue...I am going to talk to my friend at the state house Monday to see if she has any suggestions.

Dad is home...not happy about how quick the grass is going. We are currently mowing 2-3 times a week. We do not water or fertilize the lawn. Mom had a great time at the Bee and is now in MA visiting Auntie. Dansir is getting ready to move to Orlando. Tristan is in New England deal with business. Walter has been working hard. Me...I hold down the homefront during the summer...not a bad thing really...kind of peaceful...I really enjoy it.

The garden is growing crazy. The crate myrtle clones are growing big and will be ready to plant in the ground next spring. I will be cleaning the plants this week (dead wooding, washing, weeding, etc...). I need to start making tinctures and salves.....so much to do...as I said before sleep is overrated ;)

Walter has been working on the house. He has been restructuring rooms through out the house. In September he is planning on doing the roof. My storage room is getting full of supplies. I really do love the office he made me...it was kind of cool when he found some paint in the shed and did the office in it. He has been stressed about the girls...I have been teaching him to use it in a productive manner.

The animals have been quiet in the heat. Shinara get bit by something and spent 4 days very ill...she has started pulling out of it...I feel she will be just fine soon. I sat up with her 2 nights...again...sleep is overrated. It was sweet to see how worried every animal in the house became when she got ill.

All in all it was a busy week for me. At points I did not know what day it was.

Herbal Remedy

A Jasmine plant (that is well kept) in the bedroom will promote better sleep.

This comes from a paper done by psychologists at Wheeling Jesuit Univ. in WV(2010). It has been well known in India, China, Egypt, Greece, Israel for thousands of years...I wonder why is the USA we are acting like it is new information.

I am currently setting up for my not for profit...there is so much to do...I have had Dale getting all my paperwork set up...I have had to dig up all my certifications. I am very honored that the elders have chosen me for the post of High Priestess. I am trying to locate the right woods and herbs for the ceremony...I will have plenty of time to sleep when I am dead.

It is time again for me to head to the pool...maybe I will take Warren Zevon with me...he is in my mindset...I never take vacations either...ha ha ha

Blessed Be

What color is the sky in your world?

Sorry it has taken me so long to catch up. I am here now. Grab an iced tea and come sit with me…I feel like the world has had me on the run. How have you been? I have a lot to fill you in on…

Massage has been S-L-O-W…between the oil and the county tearing up the roads…I am almost shut down…it has given me time to update the massage room and make some changes…I always feel better after a room update…get rid of the old tired energy and let the new inspiring energy in…

School is going well. Botany and Herbology is a very cool subject and my classmates keep it very interesting. I feel very blessed to be getting such a good education. My final exam for this class is Thursday and I hope to do well.

Chris and I have been hard at work. Book 2 will be out in about 45 days…how cool is that…if you cannot tell, I am very excited. I never expected publishing to be so much fun. Walter will be handling our product line through Zazzle…I think he will be good at it and it will give him a chance to get creative with us. Rose and Chris would like to thank everyone for their support during the house remodel. It did turn out quite lovely.

Government bidding has been a very slow process. I honestly feel it is like taking one step forward and 2 back. I have been looking for a bonding solution…and so far no luck…I have tried to make several calls and yet no one seems to have answers.

Dad just got home from MA…Mom is off to the Longaberger Basket Bee in Ohio…Tristan is on maneuvers in the woods…Dansir is in NH helping a friend move…summertime in generally keeps the family on the move. Walter has been working out his honey do list and doing a great job. He painted my new office last weekend and up potted several of my plants...I am such a lucky woman.

The animals have been quiet in the heat. During the summer I do not feed the pond fish as often because they can get bugs…I do love to watch them in the evening…they have even jumped out of the water to catch a bug…very cool. 2 of the sugar gliders are getting ready to find a home. I will be sad to see them go.

The garden has been having it tough with the unrelenting heat. I had to go weed the roses this week as the weeds were choking off their oxygen. When weeding the banana trees, I pretend I am cutting my way through the jungle;)

I have recently been offered the position of High Priestess (I would be one of 13). This would mean my own Coven. It was much to think on and not something I would take lightly. I have accepted and on 9/23/20 I will be Ordained. My group is now accepting members, but will not begin until then.

As promised, an herbal remedy recipe…

Aloe, Hibiscus, Passion Flower and Kava Salve

¾ c sap/gel Aloe Vera

10 dried flowers of Hibiscus

5 leafs Passion Flower

3 rhizomes Kava

3 c Cocoa Butter

I have a hotplate that heats to 150.. I have an old beat up pot that I use for topical treatments, my trusty Pyrex measure and soap molds. First, I squish 6 aloe leafs to extract the sap/gel into the measure and then into the pot (this is so gooey and I always make a giant mess). To that I add the cocoa butter in the hot pan and let them start to combine. After about 15 minutes, I am ready to add the flowers, leafs and rhizomes of the other plants. I let it cook down for 2 hours. The hibiscus flowers usually tint the salve with a reddish hue. I strain it through cheese cloth back into the pan (what is in the cheese cloth will go into the compost pile- cocoa butter is water soluble). While it is still hot, I will pour it into a soap mold and let harden for 2 days in a dark cool place (under the kitchen sink).

When it is done, I will pop it out of the mold and wrap it in wax paper and place in a Ziploc in a dark cool place (closet) until ready to use. It should look like a bar of soap. When ready to use, I can rub directly on affected area. The heat from the patient’s skin will melt the cocoa butter base and deliver relief to the patient. I make 2-3 batches of this per year and have always gotten good results. I never use this on new, fresh sunburn. It is for use on burns that are over 48 hours old, bumps, bruises, scrapes and minor skin irritations. The house has a pleasant smell as it is cooking. I also use it on my dogs for their minor skin irritations. My friend who has horses swears by it to aide in healing all the small abrasions on her animals.
