Happy Pills Might Help

Merry Meet,

How are you doing…spring is here…it has been quite crazy as of late…sorry I have not been around much…let me fill you in

Massage has been a happy place…many of the clients have been coming in to see me…we have been talking about a plans and what to do while I am on the paddle…we laugh about how busy I will be when I return…I think I have the best group of patients:)
School is going well…I am taking Nutrition and Pathology…it is a very interesting class…it also reinforces and add structure to what we have already learned…it is difficult to keep up because of what is going on, but so far so good

American Boudica Publishing has been focused on the Sunshine Paddle…Chris has been working on artwork…he and his granddaughters’ Alex and Jade are working on a Children’s book called ‘Animals of the Paddle’…so far it looks good

Ostara will be a big holiday (3/20/12) for me this year…the first lambs were born this week…I will be requesting safe passage…all who wish to join me at the bon fire, just call…I will be making the feast first

The SunshinePaddle will be happening in 65 days…I am making appearances, have joined a play (The Vagina Monologues- for the shelter), trip planning, sending letters, practice, shopping, etc…this does not even speak on testing equipment…it is very important to me…

Spring is popping out everywhere…I have been trying to clean up…this year I have had so little time, I am shoveling sand against the tide…flowers have started popping up everywhere…goes to figure Dad is NC and missing it…lol

100 MPH with My Hair on Fire

Dude,

I can handle ignorant people because they do not know better, but stupid people just burn my cookies;/…let me fill you in on my week so far…

In massage this week, the clients have been wonderful…I love my job and I am damb good at it…I wish we did not have a board of massage (they are worthless) and that we just reported straight to DOH…I actually got a call asking why so few people had renewed their licenses, did I have any ideas…it is simple, the cost is too high for the amount of money someone can make in this profession at the moment…I have an amazing massage and I charge $30 per hour because that is what the people in my area can afford…I work enough to help my husband, but no where near what I was making 4 years ago…if I did not have a mother and husband who believes is what I do, I too would have lost everything…

Yes, now we can talk about school…I got very upset this week as you know…a young woman who is a hyper-learner such as myself, got into a discussion with me about ‘can Chiropractor work on a bacterial infection’…the answer is NO and when I proved that to her she got upset…this is the second time/class this young woman has used me as her target…I did not say anything the first time, but this time I did…the school was quick to take action…I have to admit our school wants everyone to get the most from every class…in life (not just school), you will deal with people who are not nice…cope with them while you have to, be polite and or professional…then leave away from them as soon as possible…those are people who will never grow in mind or heart because they choose not to…

Chris, Rose and I have been playing the phone game as Mr. Branson can not seem to keep his service operable…I miss the cheerful British accents…Thankfully we are on hiatus or I would be ripping out my hair…lol…

This is why you have not found me…I jump into the Pimp Mobile with Yum Yum tied on Top and head for the beach…The Sunshine Paddle is going to be a tough trip on my body (don’t tell anyone, I am not 18 anymore…lol)…I had to be able to do 4 ½ MPH…sounds much easier than it is, thankfully I had idiots to upset me and made it work for me…yes, now even in choppy water 4 ½ MPH is no problem in Yum Yum (I can hardly wait until I have my sea yak)...I saw beautiful Ladyfish jumping from the water all week…I spent time with the girl scouts last week about a kayak day;) and will be spending time with Tami Longaberger of Longaberger Basket Company…I have written to her about sponsorship and hope to have a few minutes to chat with her tomorrow at the event she has invited me to…I have started working on logistics again…I have called my crew of snowbirds, athletic professionals, who will be helping me train and working on the body for me…they will take the 4 ½ MPH and make it last for 8 hours…endurance will be the next big hurdle

The Truth about Figs

One of the best things about figs is that they are delicious and so good for you! They are a wonderful food with natural healing properties. Figs are very high in fiber and various nutrients (Vitamin A, Vitamin C, thiamine, riboflavin, niacin, iron, calcium, potassium, phosphorus, and protein).

Polyphenols are natural chemicals that you find in plants. They help to reduce your risk of cancer. Fortunately, figs happen to be very high in polyphenols. You'll also find a cancer fighting compound called benzaldehyde in figs. According to the research, benzaldehyde has the ability to shrink abnormal growths.

Figs make a great natural remedy because they have anti-parasitic, anti-ulcer, antibacterial, laxative, and emollient properties.

Fig syrup is another excellent fig remedy. It is a great tasting way to enjoy the benefits of these wonderful fruits. Fig syrup is great for coughs, sore throats, asthma, anemia, catarrh, colitis, gout, and digestive ulcers. You can easily make your own fig syrup at home.

1 pound of figs, 1 quart of water, ¼ cup sugar, Juice from 1 tangerine/orange

Cut up and clean figs, place into sauce pan with water, sugar and juice (I also add the squeezed fruit)…bring to a low boil for about 10 minutes…cool and refrigerate or freeze…can use over pancakes or French toast or it can be added to juice

If you call and I do not answer, I am either with a client or out Yakin on Yum Yum…Mabon is the 23rd…let me know if you will be by for dinner and the bon fire…I would love to see you there;)

Much Love and Many Blessings,

D

Education is an Understatement

At times I wish I could jump into the kayak and go…wait let me think about that, don’t want to hit shark season (Fall)…not wanting to quote Buffet, but I feel fins all around me…

I have had to write to several companies and people asking for donations or time…I can not accept help from anyone I find questionable…this means I had to do a ton of research on every company or person…

Monique asked why I had not spoken to the governor’s wife…I had never thought about him being married…I am outspoken and found so much about him questionable during his campaign, that I never once thought he may be married…I sat down with my feelings for him…I have to admit, I like what he has done since he has been in office…we have needed someone who cares for the state and her people…he has taken NO pay check and done his job well…though I do not like some of his choices, they did need to be made and I would not have liked anyone who made them…OMG…he is not as bad as I had thought…I am glad he is our governor…I looked up his wife and have to admit, I am impressed…he is lucky to have such a woman and Florida is lucky to have her as first lady…so I sent the e-mail…I also sent one to Martha Stewart…I do not use a form letter (though it may have been easier), I have been writing each letter individually…there is a lot of office work to doing charity…Chris and Monique have been helping me with the letters...none of us were sure what proper was so, again we did our best...

I completed the website…Chris is doing some clean up, but until we get closer to launch it is done…to me the respect we have shown to each area is quite wonderful…I love the reviews...Marion has been great about proofing it for me...

I am quite excited…my friend Cathy is going to lend me a kayak that she feels will be good for training...yum yum yellow, so I will learn to paddle fast;)…I am happy not to have to pay rental fees anymore…it is so exciting…though renting has taught me what I am looking for in a kayak…my friends and family want to make sure I can handle the voyage and are looking out for my safety…very cool

At the end of the day, I have touched lives in a positive way and have learned quite a bit…that means a great deal to me…all in all, I think for armatures, we are doing a good job putting this together…I am quite thankful for the help I have been receiving…this journey would not be possible alone…

On My Soap Box

I have been all over this country (USA)…when I was a young woman, I grew up in MA…and like any ‘good girl’, New England was my playground…I then moved to TN…from there to Virginia beach…and now in Florida…each and every area that I have lived in has prized good morals and being a good sport…let me share with you some things I have learned

Lesson1…from a time that I was quite small, I was taught right from wrong…legal be dammed, if you did the right thing…in your heart any amount of time is not a sacrifice…you see when this life is over…I do not have to answer for what you did…only for what I did…If I do something wrong, I need to be honest and take my lumps…this is the philosophy I live by

Lesson 2…from the time I was born, I have been around animals and gardens…here is where I learned respect…not only for what was on my table, but also for life…you see, my animals do not belong to me, but I to them…

Lesson 3…it was put to me as a child that you never hurt anyone or anything for fun…people who did this were always looked down on and shunned

Lesson 4…it was unfair to allow others who were ignorant to be taken advantage of…be it animal or human…it was my duty to look after those who could not look after themselves…

Lesson 5…not everyone wins…this lesson is important…it teaches the winner to be humble and the loser to try harder…

Lesson 6…Win with grace and humility…walk with honor and pride

These are lessons of life, fair play and sportsmanship…I am writing this as I have seen some things that have my stomach turning…growing up in New England sports are a way of life…I swallowed the whole OJ murder trial (thankfully Nevada cleaned this mess up)…I do not think just because you know how to throw a ball that you should be allowed to get away with the crapp these guys are pulling…then came the idiot who thought dog fighting was so cool…many dogs are hurt or dead because of him…had you or I done this same crime, we would be behind bars for 20 years…he skated on the fact he could play ball with only 2 years…now not only do we the people of America and our children get this man rubbed in our face not only on the TV, but the internet too...now the president is going to speak up for him saying the man had done his time…could someone please tell Mr. Obama what dog fighting is…give him a video to watch…after watching sir, do you still think he did his time…he was given back a multimillion dollar contract by the NFL…kids took away the lesson that fighting dogs will not get you into too much trouble…I understood a cop looking the other way for a speeding ticket or a parking violation, but we are far from minor infractions…people tripping players from the side lines…lesson here kids, if you are losing it is okay to cheat…here in Tampa we pay for a stadium that the Buccs’ play in and most of the Buccaneers’ games have been blacked out from our TVs…because during a time in Florida’s lowest employment rate in history, we can not afford $25 a ticket (in the cheapest seats) and another $10 for parking to fill the stadium…can you say double dipping…please understand this is just the highlight reel…I guess the NFL has given up the morals and ethics clause in their contracts

I am quite tired of the bullshit they are trying to feed me…I will no longer buy tickets or t-shirts put out by the NFL…I will no longer watch games played by the NFL…nor will I spend any further time speaking of them…I can no longer support a national league who feels they are above the law and screwing people over is acceptable…I thank you for understanding my feelings…I will raise my grandchildren to play hockey, to swim, to play tennis…I will still watch the army/navy game, college and high school football…I am not nor will I ever be anti-sports…I have not seen such frightful behavior from other sports…I feel I have to stand up for what’s right…it may not be what is popular, but my conscience is clear…the children around me will not have to be exposed by such horrid people

Again, thank you for understanding
